Round 2 Night w/ Lux

[ Much like the previous time they went exploring together, Ulaz leads the way silently in his full Blade of Marmora uniform, although tonight sees the addition of a kitchen knife sticking out of one of his belt pouches like a makeshift scabbard. Arguably it's wholly unnecessary for him to be carrying that--he has no intention of using it on Lux and no suspicion that Lux intends to attack him, but he also has no guarantee they won't run into anyone else. He'd much rather be prepared.

This time, at least, he doesn't wait until he's found something to start making conversation. ]

What did you make of this morning's display?

[ He's keeping his voice low just in case, but even with the mask's filtering, the contempt in his voice is obvious. ]

[ She's visibly shaken by the ordeal. She's used to a certain level of violence, but it's usually flashy magical beams of energy. It's usually people get injured - and then healed.

At first she just sighs, unsure of how to answer. ]

I don't know. It's a lot to take in. I know they had been pretty clear about the rules, but to actually see them kill someone...

...Are you not familiar with death?

[ She'd made herself sound like a warrior, so naturally he just assumed.... ]

I am, I mean, sort of... None of my team mates have died, but I know that it's always a reality for us...

[insurgeont]

Then you were fortunate. But that luck has run out. More people will die before this is through. You must be prepared for that.

[starguards]

Accepting that feels like giving in. I'm... Used to saving people.

[insurgeont]

Understanding the situation at hand is not the same as surrender. This is not a game of combat, but one of strategy. Risks and sacrifices are necessary.

[starguards]

But you're sacrificing other people. Deciding that it's okay to do that is surrendering.

It is being realistic. We are not the ones who placed them here and it is not within our power to free them from this game. All that is available is to minimize the damage we do.
