Round 1 Night w/ Lux

[ Ulaz is not what you'd call the most charming of nighttime company, especially for a teenage girl, but, well. Here they are. He could certainly be worse company, sure, in that he's not trying to kill her, but he's probably not doing a great job at actually reassuring Lux of that fact, decked out as he is in his full Blade of Marmora uniform, mask and hood and all, and leading the way in complete silence.

When they investigate the greenhouse, he finally deigns to speak up, his voice slightly filtered by the mask. ]

There is something here.

[ There's definitely something jarring about him. Lux is trying not to let it bother her, stopping herself from jumping to conclusions. He wears colors so similar to the voidlings, and she has never seen purple skin on anything else. It would be a red flag back home, but... This isn't home. He's been perfectly friendly, in her opinion! And besides, voidlings are never so humanoid, never capable of communication, let alone making up a back story.

She wants to trust him, even if it feels like a concentrated effort to do it. She does feel a little out of place just wearing her school uniform, and with him towering over her, but even if she could transform, that might only feel weirder.

She startles, a bit too caught up in her thoughts. ]

O-oh, you mean the plants...?

[ She had explored this area during the day, and hasn't quite noticed anything different about it yet. ]

[insurgeont]

[ Yes there sure are plants here, but that's not what's gotten Ulaz's attention. He moves over to the door on the wall. ]

No. This was not here before. ...No. It was hidden. [ He gestures to the plant that's withdrawn its foliage for the night, just in case it wasn't clear enough. ]

[starguards]

[ Oh!! He's right. ]

Should we go in...?

[insurgeont]

There could be something useful inside.

[ There could also be a deadly trap or something, sure, but Ulaz doesn't think that's very likely and is also wholly confident in his ability to deal with it if that is the case, being an experienced space ninja and all. He opens the door without hesitation and then prowls silently around the grove, before he eventually settles into a crouch by the pond. The room's contents aren't as interesting as he'd hoped, but the fish are... interesting. ]

[starguards]

[ Lux follows him in - she can't let someone else take all the danger on by themselves! Even if she's probably TOTALLY USELESS WITHOUT HER MAGIC BUT THAT'S FINE.

And at first she looks really happy to see a regular little grove room! There are bugs and plants and fishies and - okay the skipping sounds are a little weird, but...!

... Then her face falls when she realizes that it isn't a very useful room. She comes to stand beside Ulaz. ]

... I don't think this does us any good.

[insurgeont]

[ Ulaz draws a large clawed hand through the water and the fish scatter. Hm. ]

These are alive. Unless there is more to this pond than we can see, they must have been placed here on purpose. I do not understand why.

[starguards]

You've never seen a fish pond before? They're for decoration. Like... Really low maintenance pets.

[ But, hm. ] I guess that means someone must be feeding them, though.

[insurgeont]

Logically, it would have to be the raccoons. But that seems hard to believe.

[ Ulaz barely believes the raccoons are responsible enough to feed themselves, tbh. ]

[starguards]

[ She's thinking the same. ]

Yeah. If they don't know what people eat, it's hard to imagine they know what fish eat.

[insurgeont]

...What do they eat?

[starguards]

Fish food?

[ she is suddenly acutely aware that she does not really know what fish food is made out of??????? ]

[insurgeont]

[ Did that... not... translate... right...??? ]

...What does that look like?

[starguards]

They're like little pellets and stuff. Or flakes, sometimes.

It comes in a can.

[insurgeont]

[ Well, that explains the name. A generic sort of name for a generic sort of product. Unfortunate. He was kind of hoping it'd be something that would prove incriminating if found in someone's possession, but clearly things just can't be that easy.

He stands back up. Time to move on. ]

There does not seem to be anything else useful here. It is strange that this room was hidden from us at all.

[starguards]

Maybe they just don't want us to have fun and see nice things. To make us... Scared?

[ Just a stab in the dark, but it's all she can think of. ]

But it was really easy to find this place, too, so if they wanted it to be a secret, I think they could have done a way better job...
